On 03 - 07th June 2025 the partnership carried out the “train the trainer” in sparkle, a project co-funded by the Erasmus + Programme of the European Commission. The initiative brought together eight (8) partners from Uganda, Sierra Leone, Italy, Belgium and Spain and aimed to Strengthen the capacity of TVET providers in Sierra Leone and Uganda to foster effective collaboration with enterprises and local authorities, bridging the gap between skills and the world of work.
The event program was shared early enough for review and all partners agreed that the topics proposed were applicable, practical and highly relevant. The presentations by all partners were precise to the goal of identifying key gaps in the training of Electro-technicians and the program cordinator appreciated the active and interractive participation of all representatives of the SPARKLE partners and stakeholders such as Employers, Policy makers, Unionists, practicing Electricians, Solar Products Innovators, Trainees, Instructors and many more.
The SPARKLE project aims to enhance TVET systems in Uganda and Sierra Leone by addressing key challenges such as unemployment, undeclared work, and migration, which hinder economic and social development. Through partnerships with experienced TVET institutions in Programme Countries, the project fosters collaborative networks between public and private stakeholders to strengthen the TVET ecosystem. Emphasizing continuous exchange, coaching, and support, SPARKLE focuses on capacity building and the development of innovative training programs aligned with local labor market needs and national green and digital policies, ultimately promoting decent and sustainable employment opportunities.
The event began with a welcome and overview from the Director of Namulanda Technical Institute, followed by sessions on TVET policies and partner country experiences. Stakeholders actively engaged in discussions on challenges in the electro-technical sector, responding to over 40 prepared questions. Field visits were conducted to a community hospital and a church-owned vocational training center. The closing session at Emergency Hospital Entebbe focused on partnership opportunities, project planning, and financial management. The Project Coordinator concluded by commending the collaboration and emphasized the importance of collecting and sharing stakeholder feedback through SST forms.
Namulanda technical Institute was responsible for the planning, organisation and implementation of the sparkle Train the Trainer activity that took place at the Institute campus in Uganda and calls upon all potential stakeholders to join the sparkle team by visiting the sparkle digital open space at https://www.sparkledigitalopenspace.eu/
